Enterprise Development

We’re developing and operating a variety of business ventures to serve as models for forward-thinking producers and entrepreneurs.

We’re disrupting “business as usual” and focusing on customer awareness to increase demand for regenerative-sourced products in the marketplace.

Figure Ate

In 2020, we launched Figure Ate to create restorative foods from regenerative agriculture and bring them to the marketplace.

Each of our products begin by identifying an ecological need that can be addressed through regenerative agriculture, and become nutrient-dense, delicious foods that restore our bodies, our communities, and our ecosystem. 100% of Figure Ate proceeds return to White Buffalo Land Trust.

Richards Regenerative

Livestock can have positive or negative ecological impacts, depending on how they are managed. At Jalama Canyon Ranch, we are modeling a series of practices known as Holistic Managed Grazing and employing Ecological Outcome Verification™ (EOV™). This combination intends to improve the soil health of our grazing grasslands and quantify the impacts of our management.

We have partnered with Richards Regenerative of Northern California to pilot an innovative program focused on seasonally migrating cattle from Northern California to our region to graze during our growing season. This pattern allows us to maximize the positive ecological impact of the livestock and allows pastures to rest, minimizing the adverse effects of overgrazing during the dry hot months.

This beef is part of the Land to Market™ program.

Sandhi Wines

White Buffalo Land Trust took over stewardship of the five acre vineyard at Jalama Canyon Ranch on April 20th, 2021. Since then, we have partnered with Sandhi Wines, a Lompoc-based winery founded by Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman, to work with us from soil-to-bottle to develop a natural wine representative of the vineyard at Jalama Canyon Ranch.

Sandhi shares a dedication to organic viticulture practices and brings over a decade of on-the-ground experience tending vineyards in the nearby Sta. Rita Hills. Together we will develop our management plan in alignment with our core principles of regeneration, including improving the health and water holding capacity of the soil, increasing biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and employing equitable labor practices.
